I would have bought one back in y2k, had I fit inside. How the Miata had more room in it is beyond me.

I’ve driven an S2000 once, and an ND Miata once, both for just a short while, and neither on roads where they could really shine, but
he Miata “spoke” to me more, whatever that means.

I sold mazdas back in the NA era. They were a blast to slide around.

I wonder where in PA these roads are. I need to go

I’ve driven an NA once, but it was a stripped down, track-prepped version that belonged to a friend, so not a true representation. Never have driven an NB. Drove an NC once and unintentionally did a powerslide in the first intersection - ha! The ND’s the only one that really fits me (and just barely).

I found the same thing to be true! Drove a nicely modified S2000 a friend had and while it could sure scoot, it did not feel fun. Now, even a stock Miata manages to engage the driver and paint a grin on my face.

That is relaxing and supremely well edited. Thank you. I needed that.

That’s it! The S2000 is
serious.
A precision
weapon.
The Miata’s a puppy that wants to play.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Agreed. Embarrassed to admit that after 3.5 years of FRS ownership. In 2013 when I purchased that I was not a fan of the NC generation Miata and the older ones lacked any degree of practicality - what I measure as carrying hockey gear or luggage for a couple’s weekend getaway.

I generally use the wife’s car when I need to drive the doggos somewhere , but when I can’t I put the roof down in in the S2k. The chubby one gets carsick with the top up and both seem much happier in open air.

I desperately wish the Miata’s drivetrain could live in the 86's body. A Miata is out of the question for me for at least 5 years, probably.
Toyota and Mazda do have a partnership...
I was no fan of the NC, either.

My guess is that Honda considered the earlier AP1 was too lively and overreacted with the 2004+ AP2 updates - more understeer, heavy flywheel (14-> 21 lbs ) and wide rear tires (225mm-> 245mm ) on what is still just a natural aspirated 4 cylinder .
I put the smaller 16" AP1 wheels on mine to improve the ride quality, but the
weight and grip reduction have also
been transformative. It just feels like a much lighter and happier car, like the sensation of removing ankle weights.
Very Miata-ish, actually ...

It is an excellent car still and my response was in the realm of splitting hairs. I wish I had given a stock example a go - it’s always hard to tell if modifications fundamentally alter a car in a positive or negative direction without a baseline.
